Natasha at SERFA conference

May 22, 2014

May 15-18 was a weekend filled with music; performing and listening to the music of countless other artists as well as meeting people within the folk music world who book artists at their house concerts, coffeehouses and concert series.

The conference was held in the mountains near Asheville, NC in a little town called Montreat, NC at the Presbyterian retreat of the same name. There were nightly official showcases on a main stage (Natasha did one of these) and then from 10:40 p.m. until 2:00 were the guerrilla showcases where artists move from room to room of about 8 showcase rooms and perform 20 minute acoustic sets to the people in that room. People move around from room to room according to a printed schedule listening to the artists they are interested in. It is an incredible way to hear and experience music. Artists came from as far as Maine,Oregon and parts of Canada.
